Starting from May 1, 2025, a new mandatory procedure for all foreigners will come into force in Thailand – pre-filling out an electronic arrival card TDAC (Thailand Digital Arrival Card). This decision was made by the Immigration Bureau of Thailand as part of the large-scale digitalization of border control. The innovation should simplify the border crossing process and significantly reduce queues at airports. Everything that Ukrainians need to know about the new rules for entering Thailand is described below.

What is a TDAC and why is it needed when entering Thailand?

TDAC (Thailand Digital Arrival Card) is a new electronic form that must be filled out before traveling to Thailand. It does not replace a visa or other permits, but is a mandatory document for entering the country from May 1, 2025. Without confirmation of filling out this form, tourists will simply not be allowed to enter Thailand.

The digital card allows border guards to obtain key information about the traveler in advance, which, according to the government, will speed up the check and make the entry procedure more convenient and contactless.

Who needs a TDAC?

The TDAC digital card is mandatory for all foreign nationals arriving in Thailand:

● for tourist purposes

● for business purposes

● in transit;

● for other reasons, regardless of whether you have a visa or visa-free entry.

Even if you are traveling with a child, you need to submit a separate form for each family member.

How to fill out the TDAC: step-by-step instructions

Online registration is available on the official website of the Thai Immigration Bureau. The form can be filled out no earlier than 3 days before the date of travel.

To register you will need:

● passport or travel document;

● personal data: full name, date of birth, citizenship;

● flight information: number, date of arrival

● address of your temporary residence in Thailand (for example, a hotel or apartment).

After filling out the form, you will receive an e-mail confirmation, which should be presented to the border guards on the day of arrival. It is recommended that you have a copy in your smartphone and, preferably, a printed version in case of technical failures.

Important! When planning a vacation in Asia, do not forget about the need for insurance. On the Visit Ukraine portal, you can take out travel insurance with medical and other expenses coverage and 24/7 support. The insurance will come in handy not only in case of injury or illness, but also in case of unforeseen changes in entry rules or flights.

What are the risks if I don’t have a TDAC?

Without confirmation of completion of the TDAC, a foreigner will not be able to pass passport control in Thailand. This means:

● refusal to enter the country;

● potential deportation at the expense of the passenger

● delays at the airport and administrative difficulties.

Therefore, you should not neglect the new requirements. It is recommended to fill out the form in advance, check all the data for errors, and have confirmation at hand.
