The Sukhothai Loi Krathong and Candle Festival 2025, set to run from 27 October to 5 November 2025, will proceed as scheduled at Sukhothai Historical Park. While the festival will maintain its traditional elements, such as the lighting of candles and fireworks, certain activities will be adapted to align with the mood of remembrance. A nightly candle-lighting tribute at 21:21 hrs will take place, in honor of the Queen Mother, along with traditional Sukhothai-style fireworks that have been specifically adjusted to ensure they are in keeping with the respect and reverence during the mourning period.
Similarly, the Loi Krathong Festival in Ayutthaya, another significant cultural celebration, will also go ahead as planned. However, this event will be adjusted in tone to honor the passing of the Queen Mother. The celebrations will feature candle-lighting ceremonies and other tributes to remember Her Majesty, with a focus on quiet reflection and respect. The event’s organizers have promised a dignified atmosphere that upholds the values of the mourning period while still offering visitors the chance to partake in this beautiful Thai tradition.
