Severe floods have wreaked havoc on southern Thailand, significantly disrupting transportation networks. Heavy rainfall and strong winds have inundated several provinces, including Chumphon, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Ranong, and Surat Thani. As a result, both road and rail services have been severely impacted, leaving many travellers stranded.
Travellers are advised to check for changes in transport routes before heading out to the affected provinces in Thailand.
Massive floods in southern Thailand cripple transport system
Thai PM urged southern officials to speed up flood relief and appreciated frontline teams for working round-the-clock. However, light rain in the north reportedly poses no flood risk, while Mae Hong Son’s tourist attractions, Rak Thai and Pang Ung, remain lively with visitors. pic.twitter.com/ZZ8XooQQsn

Flash floods and landslides have created delays in southern Thailand’s transport services.
The State Railway of Thailand shared that the Special Expres, Express, Rapid and freight trains from Bangkok to Hat Yai, Kantang, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Padang Besar, Sungai Kolok, Trang, and Yala stations have been suspended due to the flooding in Chumphon. Overall, 14 train routes have been suspended, and 12 have been rescheduled.
Some of the southern trains have changed routes in light of the Thailand floods:
- The Special Express train from Bangkok to Surat Thani temporarily terminates in Chomphon and departs from the opposite direction.
- The Ordinary train on the Thon Buri-Lang Suan-Thon Buri route has changed to Thon Buri-Chumphon-Thon Buri.
- The Local train on the Hat Yai-Chumphon will head to Lang Suan-Hat Yai-Lang Suan.
Buses in the lower South are taking Highway 4 instead of Highway 41 between Muang and Sawi districts to avoid the floods. The route detour is expected to cause service delays.
Bus routes in Chumphon, Phuket, Phang Nga, Phatthalung, Songkhla’s Hat Yai district, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Pattani, Yala, Satun, Krabi, Trang and Narathiwat’s Sungai Kolok have been adjusted as well.
