Must-visit hotspots in beautiful tropical location | Travel News | Travel

Ahead of the highly anticipated third season of the hit TV series White Lotus, fans of the show and fellow sunseekers are in search of a Thailand getaway.

The Asian country acts as the backdrop for the new season and has grown further in popularity over the past year, according to travel experts at Sunsail.

This isn’t the first time the HBO series has seemingly impacted the travel and tourism industry; just two months after the show’s second season aired, which was filmed in Sicily, an interest in Italian holidays also reportedly increased.

Renowned travel expert Ash Rodney, Base Manager at Sunsail, has dedicated years to uncovering Thailand’s best kept secrets – and now he’s ready to share the top spots that should be on any holidaymaker’s itinerary.

Richelieu Rock

Thailand is known for being the top destination for underwater adventures in the world. If you’re looking to dive into entirely new territories then take a plunge in the crystal clear waters of Ko Racha Yai’s submerged sculpture park.

The travel expert recommends this area for incredible underwater art where you can see wrecks, reefs and rays up to 30 metres, which is also referred to as “whale shark territory” by diving enthusiasts.

He said: “The underwater paradise is riddled with magnificent views and unspoiled reefs, but without question, the most notable reason for putting Richelieu Rock at the top of your holiday bucket list is the strong whale shark presence.”

Bottle Beach, Ko Pha-ngan

One of the biggest reasons the travel expert is drawn to Bottle Beach in Ko Pha-ngan is for its privacy and seclusion. Surrounded by lush jungle, the beach is only accessible to visitors via boat or what could be considered a challenging trek.

The hard-to-find-spot maintains its tranquil nature with fewer tourists, making it an ideal spot to swim and snorkel in the turquoise waters. Worlds away from the island’s famous parties, Bottle Beach is home to pristine sand and shallow water, and the perfect escape from fellow tourists.

Krabi Islands

On the islands of Krabi, tropical flowers and rich jungle cover the spectacular limestone rock, just as you’d see on an episode of White Lotus. The travel expert recommends this spot for those wanting to get up close and personal with wildlife.

Keep an eye out for giant lizards, majestic birds and white-faced gibbons. Or, take in the serendipity of the pristine beaches – including world-famous Railay Beach.

Ancient fishing villages

The Phi Phi islands have earned its acclaim as a top Thailand spot, and with good reason; home to scenic snorkelling, breathtaking hiking views and thrilling watersports, there are plenty of things to keep you occupied.

Ko Phi Phi Don is the main island of the Phi Phi Islands where travel expert Ash recommends hiking the summit. Then, he suggests “filling up with fresh seafood, tom yum [soup], and pad thai before watching fire dancers frolic on the beach.”

Pearl Island

Naka Noi, or better known as Pearl Island, is a tranquil and sheltered island with the most pristine conditions necessary for the cultivation of rare South Sea pearls. For a unique experience, you can learn about these treasures at the Naka Noi Pearl Farm.

This farm offers hands-on demonstrations of the unique art of pearl farming. Here, you can experience the rare opportunity to hand-pick the perfect pearl accessory, and commemorate your trip from one of its charming shops.

Phang Nga Bay

Travel expert Ash suggests paying a visit to Phang Nga Bay, famous for its idyllic emerald-green waters, towering limestone pillars and luscious forests. Phang is a secluded bay with waters that house coral reefs and secluded inlets.

With a dinghy or kayak you can easily explore hidden lagoons, and having your own private yacht allows for a one-of-a-kind experience. It’s these serene areas that most tourists cannot access so it’s recommended you explore them by travelling along the water.

Step into the world of White Lotus when you visit Thailand; taking inspiration from the hit series and these travel expert tips could make for your best holiday yet.
